Attitude & method · InnovationLAB Tyrol

Where off-the-shelf ends,we begin.

No black-box development. No lock-in. No surprises. Every decision is justified, every step is traceable – and in the end it should feel good for everyone involved.

Our attitude

AI for everyone. Not just the boss.

For the first time it's possible for every single person in a company to have an assistant – not just management. That doesn't only change processes. It changes how work feels, and what people can and want to achieve.

We guide. We don't just explain.

AI rollouts don't fail because of technology. They fail because nobody explains why, how – and what it means for each person. So we don't start with setup, we start by listening.

Understanding comes before configuring.

AI isn't a replacement. It's a doubling.

Whoever used to lose time on routine emails, scheduling or the same questions gets that time back. Not to work more – to work better. Calmer. More human.

Not: AI instead of people. But: AI, so people can be people.

Change management isn't optional.

The biggest hurdle isn't technical, it's fear: of being replaced, of getting it wrong, of not keeping up. That fear is legitimate. So we talk to everyone on the team, not just management.

Only those who are brought along will come along.

A concrete picture: the front desk

A receptionist answers the same 20 questions every day. That's not the work she's really needed for.

“AI is going to take my job.”

That fear is understandable – and rarely said out loud. But it's there in almost every team we work with. What actually happens: whoever hands over routine gains time for what no system can replace – empathy, judgement, relationships. That makes people more valuable to a company, not redundant.

Without AI
  • Queues for the same 20 questions
  • No time for real concerns
  • Worn out by routine
The guest waits. So does the team.
With AI
  • AI answers standard questions instantly
  • Suddenly there's time for what matters
  • Conversations become calmer. More real.
The guest is happy. So is the team.

The chain reaction

Everyone gets an assistant

Not just the boss. Everyone.

Routine disappears

AI handles the repetitive work.

Work becomes more enjoyable

People focus on what matters.

People become more valuable

And more important to the team.

People who enjoy their working day leave less often. Introducing AI is also about retention.

Our commitment

In the end it should feel good. For everyone involved.

  • We talk to everyone – not just management.
  • We measure success not only in efficiency but in satisfaction.
  • We're only done when everyone understands what's in it for them.
  • On request we organise training – so nobody is left alone with the technology.

Method

From ideato production system.

Four clearly separated phases, each ending with a tangible result. Duration depends on the service field – from 1–4 weeks for an omnichannel setup to 6–24 weeks for a portal. We give an honest estimate, not the one you want to hear.

01Analysis & diagnosis

We listen first. Before a single line of code.

A sober inventory: processes, systems, goals.

Result of this phase
  • Complete requirements document
  • Prioritised feature backlog
  • Clear picture of the existing system landscape
  • Defined success criteria (KPIs)

Every project starts with a sober inventory. We understand your processes, your system landscape and your goals – not through assumptions, but through structured conversations with the people who work with them every day.

What actually happens5
  • Structured interviews with everyone involved
  • Technology audit of existing systems and interfaces
  • Process mapping and pain-point identification
  • Requirements in plain, non-technical language
  • Defining KPIs: what does success mean for this project?

Agent-ready in this phase: Agent-ready check: what do ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode and Claude say about you today – and could an agent book with you?

Projects don't fail because of technology – they fail because of wrong assumptions. This phase removes them.

02Concept & architecture

Technology follows strategy. Never the other way round.

Technology chosen by requirements – not trends.

Result of this phase
  • Technology decision with reasons
  • Clickable prototype
  • Detailed project plan with budget

No recommendation without reasons. No architecture that locks you in. Every decision is documented transparently so your team can follow it and develop it further on its own.

What actually happens5
  • Vendor-neutral technology recommendation without conflicts of interest
  • Architecture sketches in an understandable form
  • Clickable prototype for early validation – before the first code
  • Realistic project plan with milestones and buffers
  • Make or buy: what to buy, build or outsource?

Agent-ready in this phase: Two audiences in the architecture: people (interface) and AI agents (structured data, endpoints) – from the start, not retrofitted.

Bad architecture costs more than good architecture. We build systems that are still maintainable and extensible in five years.

03Development & integration

No black-box development. You see what's being built.

Two-week sprints reviewed by your team.

Result of this phase
  • Fully functional production system
  • Automated test coverage
  • Technical documentation (code + architecture)
  • Agent-ready proof: structured data validated, concierge endpoint tested

Delivery in short cycles. A review every two weeks: you see progress, give feedback and stay in control. No months-long tunnel without insight – and no finished system that turns out not to be what you had in mind.

What actually happens5
  • Two-week sprints reviewed by your team
  • Continuous integration and automated tests
  • Status reports in non-technical language
  • Early integration with existing systems – no big bang
  • GDPR and security built in, not bolted on

Agent-ready in this phase: Agent tests in every sprint: each review also checks whether real AI agents can read, understand and operate the site.

Software development is a craft – not a supply chain. If you can't see the work, you can't steer it.

04Handover & operations

No lock-in. That's intentional, not an accident.

Complete handover – you could switch providers tomorrow.

Result of this phase
  • Full source code (Git repository)
  • User and admin documentation
  • Training materials and log
  • Optional: maintenance contract with fixed response times

Complete documentation, training for every user level and a full source code handover. You get everything needed to run, develop or hand the system to another provider. Built that way on purpose.

What actually happens5
  • Documentation for users, admins and developers
  • Training for users, administrators and IT
  • Handover of all access – servers, domains, accounts
  • Optional: maintenance contract with fixed response times
  • Knowledge documentation for internal development

Agent-ready in this phase: AI visibility report: a monthly check of which AI answers mention you – optional in the maintenance contract.

Dependency isn't our business model. If you no longer need us, we did everything right – and you'll still come back.

The promise

Substance overpromises.

These four points aren't marketing lines. They're built into how we work – and written into every project contract.

Full transparency

Every technology decision is justified. Every sprint has a joint review. You always know where the project stands.

No surprises at delivery.

Your code is yours

What we build for you is yours: source code, documentation, all access. Our products such as the web concierge and Callana run as a service – your data stays your data.

Run it yourself or with anyone else.

No conflict of interest

No partner programmes, no commissions for tool recommendations. We recommend what fits – not what benefits us. And we can build it afterwards.

Independent advice.

Agent-ready. Always.

Every website we hand over can be read and operated by AI agents. Found, understood, booked – by people and their assistants.

Two audiences. One standard.

FAQ

What you shouldknow.

Will AI agents find the websites you build?

Yes – it's a basic requirement of every web project, not an extra. Before we start we check what AI systems know about you today, we build the site for people and agents, and at the end we prove that both can read and operate it.

What if requirements change during the project?

They will. That's why we work in two-week sprints with fixed reviews. Changes are discussed in the review, prioritised and built in the next sprint – with a clear statement of what it means for time and budget.

How long does a typical project take?

It depends on the scope: omnichannel setups 1–4 weeks, automations 2–8 weeks, websites 4–12 weeks, AI integrations 3–16 weeks, portals and web apps 6–24 weeks. In phase 02 you get a realistic estimate – not a wish number that disappoints later.

Can I develop the project further myself after handover?

That's the point. Full source code handover, complete documentation, training for your team. We build deliberately so that you – or any other developer – can carry on seamlessly.

What if I'm not happy with the result?

In phase 01 we agree measurable success criteria; in phase 03 you see progress every two weeks. Surprises at the end are practically ruled out. If something still doesn't fit, we keep working until it does – that's in the contract.

Does InnovationLAB work with existing IT teams?

Gladly. We work inside existing teams, Git repositories and processes. We bring our method but adapt to your structures – not the other way round.

How transparent is the technology choice?

Completely. Every recommendation comes with concrete reasons – pros, cons, alternatives and why we chose this option. You make the final decision.
